It’s finally here. Exactly what you’ve been looking for. The most extensive, detailed list of over 50 places to develop film in Los Angeles.
(Jump to the list if you’re too excited to wait)
We definitely expected LA to be one of the top cities for number of places to develop film, but we never expected there to be this many choices in 2022. More than NYC and London combined!
With so much information, we’ve tried to make it as easy as possible to find what you’re looking for.
Here’s What We’ve Included
For each lab, we’ve broken down exactly which types of film can be developed, as well as the average review on Yelp and Google (both out of 5). Trust us, we know this is a less than perfect system and that online reviews should always be taken with a big grain of salt.
That said, with so many places to cover, we figured that including the ratings would help make the information easier to sort through. We’ve also included a weighted average that takes into account the rating from both sites, as well as the number of reviews.
The labs are listed in order from highest average rating to lowest and the list is broken down into four general areas encompassing the greater Los Angeles area. Every spot is marked on our custom map to give you a quick view of all the options.
LOOKING FOR A QUICK RECOMMENDATION? If you don’t want to read the entire list, you can just check out our top picks. Jump to that list, which includes a more thorough breakdown of each lab. (These labs are also indicated by a ⭐️ next to their name.)
It’s also worth noting that while we’ve triple checked all of the information presented, things change very quickly, and we can’t guarantee 100% accuracy. In the time it took to compile this list, two labs on the list went out of business and another moved locations.
Bottom line: this list is just a guide to help you find where you can develop film. It’s up to you to ensure that the lab you choose is capable of accomplishing what you need, to your standards.
Do a little research before you drop off a priceless roll of film at a new spot and don’t be afraid to ask questions. (We know that technically, every roll of film is priceless, but you get what we mean)
With that out of the way, let’s get to the list!

Outside of central Los Angeles, there are still quite a few good places to develop film. If you’re located in East LA, or even all the way in Whittier, you should still be able to develop your film, all without the trouble of heading into the city.

Our 7 Favorite Places to Develop Film in Los Angeles
Phew. You made it through the list. We respect your diligence. Or, we respect your decision to skip to our choices – thanks for putting your trust in us.
It’s hard to pick favorites out of such a dense pool of perfectly acceptable photo labs. From one hour, mom and pop shops, all the way to expensive, high end, professional labs, Los Angeles is a great place to be a film photographer.
We chose lucky number seven of the best places to develop film, covering different types of stores, different services available, and different neighborhoods of LA.
Take a look at our picks below.
Last Good Film Lab – LA
Location: 5427 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90029
While “Last” Good Film Lab might be mildly hyperbolic, there’s no question that this is a good, if not great, place to develop film in Los Angeles. LGFL was founded by creatives and caters to both photographers and videographers that shoot film.
You can expect to find film processing services for 35mm or 120 medium format film, whether it is C-41 color, black and white, or E-6. If you happen to be interested in videography as well, you can also develop and scan any type of motion picture film. One stop shop!
As an official Kodak reseller, you can count on Last Good Film Lab to restock on fresh film while you’re dropping off your finished rolls.
For Y2K era flashbacks and more information, check out Last Good Film Lab – LA.
Tom’s One Hour Photo
Location: 4158 Beverly Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90004
You may remember seeing Tom’s One Hour Photo in the news when singer Kacey Musgraves took to social media to encourage folks to visit this small, family owned photo shop in Koreatown.
Known more for the 90’s style portraits in front of backdrops airbrushed by none other than Tom himself, you can still develop and scan C-41 color film.
While as a photo lab, services are pretty bare bones, this is a good place to go if you need to develop or scan some film quickly and don’t want to use an expensive, high-end lab.
Is this a professional photo lab? No. Is it still adequate for the majority of people reading this? Absolutely.
We’re usually more than happy to drop off a roll or two at Tom’s, but in all honesty, their inclusion on this list has more to do with the portrait studio and the imminent smile on your face after interacting with such a kind, hardworking individual like Tom.
Seriously, just go get your portrait taken. It’s cheap, fun, and you’ll probably treasure the souvenir for years to come.
Check out plenty of examples and find out more info at Tom’s One Hour Photo.
Freestyle Photo & Imaging Supplies
Location: 5401 W Sunset Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90027
Established over 7 decades ago in 1946, Freestyle Photo has been a longstanding choice of film photographers in LA. With its central Hollywood location on Sunset Boulevard, Freestyle remains one of our favorite places to develop disposable cameras and film.
Heads up: film developing is outsourced to Richard Photo Lab in Santa Clarita. While this fact alone may send some folks skipping to the next on the list, Richard Photo is a fantastic lab with plenty of glowing endorsements.
If you decide to check out Freestyle Photo, you can drop off your 35mm and 120 film, whether it is C-41 color, black and white, or even E-6.
Aside from the film processing, we like the extensive analog-related inventory, including darkroom supplies, photo paper, and all types of fresh film.
To find out more, check out Freestyle Photo & Imaging Supplies.
Berry Flash
Location: 3124 S Sepulveda Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90034
While film photography is, by nature, an exercise in patience, there are certainly times where time is of the essence. If you ever need your film developed quickly, we’d recommend checking out Berry Flash.
You can bring your film to develop at this lab if you’re shooting 35mm or 120 film of any type; C-41 color, black and white, or E-6.
Color film is developed the same day (as long as you get it in by 2:00), and other types are usually developed within a couple business days. Any type of film can be rush processed in as little as an hour, depending on availability.
For more information and a price list, you can head to Berry Flash.
35m Pro Photo Lab
Location: 15133 Ventura Blvd Sherman Oaks, CA 91403
This family owned lab opened in 1990 and has received a bit of a refresh from the families younger generations. 35m is definitely a spot that you should check out if you’re a film photographer in Los Angeles.
While we don’t have the patience to test the accuracy of their claim to be “The Fastest Lab in Los Angeles”, we’ve definitely experienced quick, high quality work at 35m. They develop 35mm and 120 film, both color and black and white.
The average turnaround for developing is 1-2 hours, and if you include prints or scans, you can expect to receive those in 3-5 hours. Not too shabby.
Aside from film processing, you can check out their different sized scans, printing (including RA-4 darkroom prints), framing, and photo studio, available for rent by the hour.
If you’d like to find out more, go to 35m Pro Photo Lab.
Red Room Photo Lab
Location: 6566 Van Nuys Blvd Los Angeles, CA 91401
Red Room stays true to their motto: “Quality photographic services for LESS.” This is one of the cheapest places to develop disposable cameras or film in Los Angeles.
You can get your film developed if it’s 35mm or 120, C-41 or black and white.
On top of keeping prices quite a bit lower than a lot of their competition, Red Room usually has a quick turnaround; generally your film will be ready within one day.
There isn’t much going on besides film processing, scanning, and printing. This photo lab is “by photographers, for photographers”, so it makes sense that there aren’t a bunch of additional services that most people don’t want. Chances are, you’re going to the photo lab for only developing and scanning the majority of the time.
Check out a price list at Red Room Photo Lab.
Paul’s Photo
Location: 23845 Hawthorne Blvd.Torrance, CA 90505
If you’re looking for a good place to develop film in the South Bay, we like Paul’s Photo. Over 50 years in business, Paul’s is a full service photoshop that includes film processing as one of their many services.
Any type of modern film is accepted; 35mm, 120 and large format can all be developed, whether C-41 color, black and white, or E-6.
You can expect to find just about any type of photo gear or accessory you can imagine. We like the selection of affordable used film cameras – a great place to look if you’re a beginner still looking for a camera.
On top of their massive inventory, Paul’s also offers classes, photowalks, and workshops happening with regular frequency.
To see everything they have to offer, head to Paul’s Photo
Final Thoughts
